Personal data we collect
We collect personal data through the following channels:
Contact forms. When you submit a form on our website, we collect the information you provide: name, email address, phone number (optional), company name and message content. This data is processed to respond to your enquiry and, with your consent, to send you relevant information about our services.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and server-side tracking to collect anonymised usage data: pages visited, session duration, traffic source, device type and approximate geographic location. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics unless you have given explicit consent via our cookie banner.
Cookies. Our website uses cookies. Essential cookies are required for the site to function. Analytics and marketing cookies are activated only after you provide consent through our Consent Management Platform. You can modify your preferences at any time via the cookie settings accessible in the footer.
Client engagements. In the course of delivering our services, we may process business contact data (name, email, phone number, company) as well as analytics data from your Google Ads, GA4 or other marketing accounts. This data is processed solely for the purpose of performing the agreed services.
Legal basis for processing
We process personal data on the following legal grounds under GDPR Article 6:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): for analytics cookies, marketing communications and newsletter subscriptions.
- Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)): for processing data required to deliver our services.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): for website security, fraud prevention and service improvement, where these interests do not override your rights.
Under Swiss FADP, processing is lawful where it occurs in good faith, is proportionate and serves the purposes declared to the data subject.
How we use your data
Your personal data is used for the following purposes:
- Responding to contact form submissions and service enquiries
- Delivering contracted digital marketing services
- Analysing website traffic to improve site performance and content
- Sending marketing communications (only with your explicit consent)

Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following categories of processors, all bound by data processing agreements:
- Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager): analytics and advertising data, processed in accordance with Google's data processing terms. Server-side tracking via Stape.io routes data through European servers.

- Client data: retained for the duration of the contractual relationship plus 5 years for accounting and legal purposes.
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months in GA4 (default retention period).

Under GDPR and FADP, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: request deletion of your data where there is no compelling reason for continued processing.

Cookies and tracking technologies
Our website uses the following categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies: required for the website to function (session management, security). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies (GA4): measure site performance and visitor behaviour. Activated only with your consent.
- Marketing cookies (Google Ads, Meta Pixel): enable conversion tracking and remarketing. Activated only with your consent.
Google Consent Mode v2 is implemented on this site. When you decline cookies, anonymised pings (without cookies) are sent to Google to enable statistical modelling of missing data, without identifying you personally.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the website footer.
Cross-border compliance
Alpative serves businesses across the France-Switzerland border. Our data processing practices comply with both GDPR (applicable in France and the EU) and Switzerland's FADP. Where the two frameworks diverge, we apply the stricter standard.
